Marvel Heroes Omega has been out on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for about a month and it is one of the top 3 games I am hooked to at the moment. There has been quite a buzz about this game, positive and negative. However, I am going to try and use my power of persuasion to come to the Marvel side. If I fail, just know they have marvelous cookies.
#1 It's Marvel!
The last time we played an extremely fun game like this was Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 1&2 nearly ten years ago. We also had X-Men Legends and X-Men Legends: Age of Apocalypse before that. I don't know you about you but growing up, I spent massive hours kicking super villain butt with friends and siblings.
#2 It's Free To Play!
That's right! You heard me! You can download the game, fire it up, and play the tutorial! At the end of the tutorial you are awarded 225 Eternity Splinters to purchase your first hero. You can purchase a hero with either Eternity Splinters or Gs. Eternity Splinters is the free currency you can grind and Gs is actual money you can pump into the game. If you are looking to put little money grinding Splinters are the way to go. If you are looking at the heroes and not liking the choices or you can play a certain hero up to level 10. Once that hero hits level 10, you cannot receive any more experience until you unlock them. If you want to save your hard earned Splinters, you can download Daredevil for free in the store of your console choice. You can play through the game and all modes until level 60. During that journey you should have amassed a good amount of Eternity Splinters. Another tip is to pay $5.00 for 500 Gs. Currently there is a VIP Program going on that when you buy any number of Gs or Founder Pack, you will get early access to Nightcrawler, 5% XP and Credit Boost, and 5 Eternity Splinters for each daily login.
#3 There is so much to do!
Each character if unlocked can reach level 60. There are currently 40 characters. That's 2,400 levels to be gained! Now you are probably wondering, what happens when I max out all characters?
Prestige: You can prestige them and start anew, getting a shiny badge next to your name and a pretty cool flourish. I am not sure how far prestige goes up BUT I have seen some pretty bad ass badges. There is story mode, which is 9 lengthy chapters.
Operations: You can doing Operations which are mini themed raids. They released the Daily Bugle Operation this month which is Spider-Man themed. You have to battle the Sinister Six within the Daily Bugle and defeat Vulture on top of the roof. Each Operation gives a certain amount of rewards for your character.
Patrols: There is Midtown Patrol where you can farm items and experience fighting endless waves of villains and super villains.
Trials: In order to get better loot, you need to play the game on a higher difficulty. In order to get a higher difficulty, you need to complete a trial, proving yourself. There is Heroic, Super Heroic, and Cosmic. I have tempted Cosmic quite a few times and I have wanted to throw my controller and drop kick my TV.
Danger Room: There is the Danger Room where you are put into a simulation and you undergo challenges and you are rewarded when you are triumphant!
Legendary Quests: After you complete the story, Legendary Quests send you through all the modes of the game to collect Legendary Marks so that you may purchase a Legendary Item that you can equip to make your character stronger!
Marvel Heroes Omega has been my game of the summer! And following folks on twitter and reading Reddit posts, it seems it's only going to get better! So, what are you waiting for?
Go download Marvel Heroes Omega today and give it a try!
